F U Cancer. RIP Laura

Today is a sad day.  Cancer has claimed someone close to us.  Laura was one of my "other moms" since I was about 16 and became good friends with her daughter.  She had been battling breast cancer for some time and lost that battle early this morning.  She was an awesome woman and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.  I am glad she is no longer suffering - as the recent past had not been easy for her at all.  She was brave and courageous, and I'm glad she was in my life.

Laura is just one of many people who I am riding across Iowa for, as I try to raise $3,000 for Stand Up to Cancer.  There's just so many people in all of our lives that have dealt with or are dealing with many many types of cancer.  It is my hope that all of your donations will be the dollars that find breakthrough research, whether it be in the area of prevention, treatment, or out-and-out cure.

I am more determined than ever to reach my goal, both fundraising for SU2C and completing every mile of RAGBRAI in the honor or memory of those with cancer.

Rest in Peace, Laura.
