Pedal Another Mile

Bicycling, death, life after death.

Billy Jo's mom told me yesterday that she was coming out early today and I should go for a bike ride. I told her I didn't know how I'd feel if my headache wasn't gone but she said she was coming out early anyway.

I woke up "ok" and decided to go. It was 38 degrees when I started. Not fun.

I didn't ride for over three weeks and probably overdid it. About mile 16 I really wished I had turned around at mile 8, then I would be done. I was riding into the wind and still 8+ miles from being back at my truck. I used the trick I did on RAGBRAI, telling myself I'm not suffering nearly as much as Billy Jo has been all these years, and to suck it up. So I did.

I'm home, showered, warm again, and glad I went. The endorphins I needed were released, and I am a good tired right now, not an exhausted tired. I think I'll take a nap.
