Blondes have more fun.
Billy Jo was up at 8:30am and feeling ok. I finally got to sleep around midnight and was up at one for her methadone, then up again at 6:30. At 8:30 she came down and by 9:00 I knew there was no way I was going to last all day - I was already exhausted. I went back upstairs and slept from 9:30 to 12:30. That helped tremendously today.
We had another full day of guests, including family that came from Ohio to see her. It was great to see all of them. While they were here, Billy Jo mentioned she wanted blonde hair again. Next thing you know, a small army is on the way to the store for hair dye! She wanted some highlights and she got them - thanks Aunt Carolyn!
In other news, our friend Dan got in touch with the management company for my favorite band, Slightly Stoopid, shortly after Billy Jo entered hospice. Billy Jo has really gotten to like the band the past few years, mainly because I play their stuff so much. The last two years she has went with to their concerts. This year they were not headlining (311 was), so their set was only a little over an hour. But the fact they weren't headlining allowed for them to meet & greet their fans after their set. As it turned out, that was great, because we got to meet the whole band! One of the two founders, guitarist/bassist/singer Kyle McDonald, stopped the line to spend several minutes chatting with Billy Jo and giving her words of encouragement and a great big hug. It was really an awesome time. None of us knew at that time that just 3 weeks later Billy Jo would be in the hospital, and then hospice two weeks after that. Here's pics from the concert.
Anyway, Dan got in touch with the manager and yesterday a box full of goodies showed up in the mail...t-shirts, water bottles, stickers, magnets, autographs, etc:
This afternoon, my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number. It has been ringing for weeks and if I don't recognize the number I don't answer it because it's always a robocall political hack.
Today, it wasn't a political hack, it was Kyle from Slightly Stoopid. Dammit! He left a message that they're all thinking of Billy Jo and I during this time and he'd try and call me again. Even if he doesn't, the voicemail is good enough :)
Anyway, it's almost 8:30 and that means Billy Jo has been up 12 hours. First time in well over a week that's happened.
Today was a much better day than last night :)
