Pedal Another Mile

Bicycling, death, life after death.

I wrote this to Billy Jo's facebook wall today:

I don't remember what we did, I don't remember where we went, but I bet it ended up at High-5 bar, and 19 years ago today we started dating. You were 18, almost 19. We spent half your life together, and almost half of mine :)

You'd remember what we did - you always remembered that stuff.

I love you and I miss you but I am having more good days/moments than bad ones. ♥

I'm doing ok today, good actually, with another important date in our lives here without her. That's a good thing.

I took a 40 mile bike ride this morning, but not before getting some good sunrise pics:

The ride was good, nothing special, until a pace line passed me around mile 27 or so. I said "fuck it - I'm gonna try and keep up". They were averaging 22-25mph. I held in for over six miles. My heart felt like it was going to come out of my chest and my legs were screaming, but let me tell you...when you're doing 25 mph and your front wheel is 2" from the guy in front of you's back wheel - you don't have thoughts at all - sad, mad, angry, happy - nothing. You can't afford to.

It was fun. First one I was in since being down here.

Anyway, that made the ride back much quicker, and I finished the ride with a 17 mph average. Not bad.

Now, off to a BBQ. Good food, beer, and music with family.

Have a good day, everybody.
