I originally started this site in 2010 to utilize it as daily ride journal as well as sharing interesting cycling-related info I may come across. I also planned on other outdoor and fitness posts from time to time, but expected it to be cycling-heavy (outside of winter).
In 2011 I used it for these purposes through my RAGBRAI ride. After that I pretty much quit cycling for the rest of the year, and quit posting as well. Billy Jo's health went south again and I just didn't have it in me to keep riding, or really doing anything at all.
In fall of 2012 I revived this blog as a way to keep family and friends updated on Billy Jo as I had to take her to the emergency room on the night of September 12, 2012. In addition to health updates, I decided it was time to write about how I feel and what I'm thinking during the toughest time of our lives instead of keeping most of it in like I had the previous 17 years. If you want the full "brunt" of what happened during this time, go to the calendar, go back to September 17, 2012 and work your way forward. If you are a caregiver or just have a friend or family member fighting cancer, you may find the shit my brain does familiar, and I hope it helps you in some way.
Writing this blog kept me from losing my mind in 2012/2013, and now it serves as my outlet to show people it is possible to heal and move on with the right attitude.
